Senior guard Claire Sterling (West Jefferson) hit a 3-pointer that gave Ohio Wesleyan an early lead, but Oberlin came back for a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday in Oberlin.
Oberlin's Sammy Spanier opened the evening's scoring with a jumper, but Sterling countered with a 3-pointer for a 3-2 Ohio Wesleyan lead.
The Yeowomen then scored the next 11 points of the game, getting a Jasmine Sorrells lay-in, a 3-pointer from Cheyenne Arthur, and a pair of hoops from Maggie Gross.
Sophomore guard Leah Maniaci (Marion/Pleasant) knocked down a 3-pointer to bring the Bishops within 15-10 late in the first quarter, then converted a 3-point play to make it a 29-25 game late in the second quarter, and when senior point guard Meghann Dunning (Mentor/Lake Catholic) followed with a free throw, Ohio Wesleyan was within 29-26 with 2:20 to play in the half.
Oberlin went on an 8-0 run midway through the third quarter, getting a pair of hoops from Ally Driscoll and 4 free throws by Arthur to extend the lead to 43-30, and the Yeowomen still led, 67-57, after a Sorrells lay-in with :45 to play.
Maniaci buried a 3-pointer and sophomore guard Molly Delaney (Delaware/Olentangy) followed with a pair of free throws as the Bishops closed to within 69-64 with :26 left, but Arthur sank a pair of free throws with :10 left to seal the outcome.
Maniaci led the Bishops with 18 points. Sterling finished with 17 points, and Delaney scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds.
Spanier led Oberlin with 20 points.
