Catch up with the Ohio Wesleyan men's cross country team!
Head Coach: Ben Carlson
What has competition looked like this fall?
"We had a series of time trials and relay races," Carlson said. "We still have 2 weeks left, and to date, we have had more than 20 personal records. The fact that you can run the best race of your life without any (outside) competition shows you are doing some good things from a training perspective.
What do you hope to carry over to the spring?
"I'm most excited about the attitudes and work ethic," Carlson said. "It was like people didn't miss a beat. People showed up every day to train and get better, and the enthusiasm was really great.
"If we have the same level of excitement and the same desire to work hard in the offseason, and if we can carry this level of enthusiasm over the break, it will make for a really fun spring."
What could spring competition include?
"It's completely unknown at this point," Carlson said. "(The North Coast Athletic Conference coaches) have put forth a number of proposals, but we don't know how many schools will participate. Some athletes who run cross country also run track, and there is a sense in some programs to call cross country a wash and run (only) track. Regardless, the same athletes will be competing in distances.
