Senior first baseman Canyon McWilliams (Shaker Heights) crushed a home run to wipe out an early 1-0 deficit, but Heidelberg rallied for a win over Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Friday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

The Student Princes had taken the lead in the second when Tyler Smith scored on a balk, but McWilliams brought the Bishops back with a shot down the rightfield line in the top of the third.

Heidelberg countered with a 3-run homer by Cayden Rollins in the bottom of the inning.

Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 4-2 on an RBI double by freshman second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) in the sixth, but the Student Princes pushed across insurance runs in the seventh and eighth frames.

Senior shortstop C.J. Colson (Beachwood) and Neff each went 2-for-3, while sophomore outfielder Connor Shields (Columbus/West Jefferson) was 2-for-4.  Senior righthander Seth Pritchett (Centerville) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.

Trevor Adkins pitched the first 5.0 innings to collect the win for Heidelberg.
