Three Bishops Advance to NCAA Division III Championship

Freshman Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak), senior Cirrus Robinson (Ashland) and junior Courtney Owens (Gahanna/Lincoln) will represent Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III championship meet on Friday and Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C., it was announced on Sunday by the NCAA.

Robinson and Howell will compete in the high jump, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.  Robinson won national championships in the high jump in 2017 and 2018.  Last year, Robinson's final height of 5-4¼ placed her in a group of 9 jumpers that tied for the final spot on the podium, but after tiebreakers, she placed 13th nationally.

Owens will compete in the pentathlon beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

Robinson is tied for the fifth seed in the nation with a mark of 5-7¾, that coming at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet on Feb. 29, with Robinson winning her fourth consecutive NCAC championship in the event. 

Howell is tied for the 19th seed with a mark of 5-5, that coming at the Larry Cole Friday Night Invite on Jan. 24.  Howell won All-NCAC honors in the high jump by finishing second at the conference championship meet on Feb. 29.

Owens is seeded 13th in the pentathlon with a score of 3388 points, which she turned in at the NCAC multi-event meet on Feb. 23, winning the conference championship and setting a school record.
