Ten Bishops Receive NFCA Academic Recognition

Ten Ohio Wesleyan University softball players received All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2020-21 academic year from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced by the NFCA.

Freshman third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark), freshman catcher Sara Bias (Sandusky/St. Mary's Central Catholic), senior outfielder Madison Bridger (Pataskala/Licking Heights), senior pitcher-outfielder Erica Buchanan (Hilliard/Davidson), freshman second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley), freshman pitcher Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood), senior outfielder Aimee Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley), freshman infielder Tori Garey (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley), freshman infielder Brooke Hoffman (Oregon/Toledo St. Ursula), and sophomore shortstop Carly Schafer (Tiffin/Columbian) were recognized.

A total of 2375 Division III student-athletes received All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2020-21 academic year. To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
