Box Score
DePauw 57, Ohio Wesleyan 41

Junior post Cierra Joiner (Centerburg) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within a single point early in the third quarter, but DePauw pulled away late in the game and went on to a win over the Bishops on Sunday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Ohio Wesleyan led, 8-7, late in the first quarter when the Tigers took off on an 11-0 run that included a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws by Maeve Summerville, and was closed out by a Claire Keefe bucket early in the second quarter.

It was still a 10-point game midway through the second quarter when freshman guard Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) converted a 3-point play, then followed with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer, and when Joiner wrapped up the first-half scoring with a lay-in, the Bishops had narrowed the deficit to 24-21 at the break.

Joiner opened the second-half scoring with a lay-in to make it 24-23, and it was still a one-possession game after Denison split a pair of free throws for a 29-26 count midway through the third quarter.

DePauw closed out the period with a 12-3 burst, with Summerville contributing a pair of free throws and a lay-in, and Mya Shannon hitting a jumper from the lane for a 41-29 Tiger lead.

The Bishops rallied with 3-pointers from freshman guard Elizabeth Homan (Cincinnati/Anderson) and Denison to open the fourth quarter, narrowing the margin to 41-35 with 7:34 to go, and Ohio Wesleyan was still within striking distance after a pair of Denison free throws made it 47-39 midway through the period, but DePauw finished the game with a 10-2 run, getting 3-pointers from Shannon and Grace Kinsey.

Denison led all players with 19 points.  Joiner had a team-high 8 rebounds for Ohio Wesleyan.

Hayley Cange finished with 13 points for DePauw.
