Alexis Reichardt, a 2020 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, has been named the University's head women's golf coach, it was announced by athletics director Doug Zipp.
"I'm definitely very excited about this," Reichardt said. "I didn't know if I would have time, being in nursing school, but the more I thought about it, the more it was a no-brainer. I know the program well and know some of the players on the team, and I wanted them to have a coach who has passion about the sport and passion about Ohio Wesleyan. It will be a transition from playing to coaching, but when I was (playing), I had a great coach who set me up to be able to do this one day."
Reichardt was one of the most successful players in the history of Ohio Wesleyan's women's golf program. She was a 3-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, earning first-team All-NCAC honors as a sophomore, second-team as a junior, and honorable mention as a freshman. The spring 2020 season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, denying her a chance to become Ohio Wesleyan's first 4-time all-conference honoree.
She set school records with a round of 74 and a 36-hole total of 152, won medalist honors 4 times during her career, and was a 3-time NCAC Player of the Week selection.
"We are very excited that Alexis will be joining our women's golf program as the new head coach," Zipp said. "In the interview process, I was struck by Alexis's passion for our program and the self-described intrinsic motivation to give back to the program she truly loves. Her intercollegiate athletics experiences meant a great deal to her during her undergraduate days at OWU and she is looking forward to working with our women and growing the program. Her great success as a player puts her in a good position to lead our women this spring."
Reichardt is a native of Waldo, Ohio, and attended River Valley High School.
