Sophomore Katie Lee (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and junior Ruthie Silberman (Deerfield, Ill.) twice were double winners for Ohio Wesleyan as the Bishops split against Wittenberg on Saturday at the Luttinger Family Tennis Center.

Wittenberg won the day's first match by a 5-4 count in the Bishops' North Coast Athletic Conference West Division opener, and Ohio Wesleyan bounced back for a 5-3 non-divisional win in the nightcap.

In the opener, Lee and Silberman teamed up for an 8-3 win over Kathleen McGuff and Claire Stechow at No. 1 doubles, but the Tigers took the other 2 flights.

Lee then posted a 6-4, 6-4 decision over P.J. Meyers at No. 1 singles, and Silberman was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Stechow at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Olivia Guenzel (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park) defeated Olivia Norbut by scores of 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, and the deciding match was at No. 2 singles, where Wittenberg's McGuff won a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 marathon over freshman Shanzay Ali (Powell/Boise (Idaho) Timberline) to give the match to the Tigers.

The second match started out much the same was as the first one, with Lee and Silberman posting a win at No. 1 doubles, this time by an 8-5 count, and the visitors winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matchups.

In singles play, Lee again defeated Meyers, this time by scores of 6-3, 6-1, and Silberman was a winner over Stechow for the fourth time on the day with a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 3 singles.

Guenzel recorded her second singles win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Norbut at No. 4 singles, and Ali clinched the win for Ohio Wesleyan with a 6-4, 6-2 nod over McGuff at No. 2 singles.
