OWU to Allow Spectators at Outdoor Athletics Events

3/4/2021 4:30:00 PM

Ohio Wesleyan University will welcome a limited number of OWU spectators to its outdoor home athletics events starting Saturday, March 6, it was announced by Doug Zipp, Ohio Wesleyan athletics director.

"We thank everyone for their patience as we continued to monitor the health of our campus and county before making recommendations on spectators at indoor and outdoor athletics events," Zipp said. "We are certain we can safely offer spectator opportunities, especially outdoors, and look forward to welcoming our Ohio Wesleyan students and the family members of our student-athletes to selected outdoor competitions. With all of us working together we can provide an opportunity for our student-athletes and coaches to start and complete their seasons while providing -- with limited attendance -- a positive game-day environment.

"Spectators will be limited to Ohio Wesleyan students and employees as well as family members of competing Ohio Wesleyan student-athletes. No visiting team spectators will be permitted to attend. Family members of Ohio Wesleyan student-athletes will receive additional information on family/guest registration through their head coaches. Each of the venues has a new established maximum capacity and a registration process is being established for fans to attend our events."

Ohio Wesleyan students and employees can pre-register to attend home events through the link in each Monday's OWU Daily.

Parking and (No) Tailgating
Parking is available in designated lots off of Henry Street. We discourage fans from parking in the grass or along city streets. Please be prepared to walk to the venue from each parking lot. There is no tailgating or gathering before, during, or after any event.  Individuals found to be in violation will be asked to leave and they will forfeit their privilege of attending future events.

We ask that you refrain from meeting a student-athlete after the game for a meal or other activities. This is to allow us to stay safe and continue to play for the remainder of the season. In the event that this type of activity does happen, we may be forced to discontinue allowing spectators to attend events. We appreciate your cooperation.
