Allegheny 6, Ohio Wesleyan 2
Ohio Wesleyan 7, Allegheny 3

Freshman outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) doubled home the go-ahead run during a 4-run ninth inning that gave Ohio Wesleyan the lead, and senior righthander Joey Watts (Marysville) worked 4.1 innings of no-hit relief to pick up a win over Allegheny in the nightcap of a non-divisional doubleheader between North Coast Athletic Conference rivals on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

In the opener, the Gators built a 4-0 lead and went on to the win.

With one out in the top of the ninth in the nightcap, junior first baseman Izaiah Withrow (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) ripped a double down the rightfield line and scored when Padilla pulled a double down the rightfield line.  Freshman catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)) followed with a single to put runners at the corners before Monaco moved to second on an infield out.  Both runners scored on a single by junior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson), with Graham later coming in to score on a double by senior third baseman Austin Harper (Sycamore/Mohawk).

That was more than enough support for Watts, who retired the Gators in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the first when junior third baseman Colin Spranger (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) plated sophomore shortstop Reece Trowbridge (Thornville/Sheridan) with a sacrifice fly, but the Gators went up, 2-1, on Brett Hecker's 2-run homer in the second.

Withrow singled home a run in the fourth to tie the game, and Harper gave the Bishops the lead with an RBI single in the fifth, but Allegheny answered with a run on Jack Duffek's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.

Harper went 3-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan, while Withrow was 2-for-3.

Freshman righthander Andy Anthony (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) scattered 4 hits over the first 4.2 innings.  Watts came on in relief with 2 down in the fifth and allowed only a one-out walk in the sixth during his 4.1 innings of work to pick up the win.

Preston Pierce was charged with the loss in relief.

The opener saw Allegheny's Roman Santia lead off the third inning with a double and eventually came in to score on a double play to put the Gators on the scoreboard, and the hosts added 3 runs in the fourth with the help of an RBI single from Chase Chodkowski and a sacrifice fly by Heckert.

Graham scored on an error by Gator second baseman Heckert in the top of the sixth and singled home a run in the top of the seventh.

Harper went 2-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.

Sophomore lefthander Ryan Ebeling (Dublin/Coffman) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

Daniel Margano pitched the first 6.0 innings for Allegheny.  Brent Herrmann got the last out to record a save.
