Allegheny 14, Ohio Wesleyan 12

Freshman midfielder Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) tallied 3 times as Ohio Wesleyan wiped out a 4-0 deficit, but Allegheny retook the lead and held on for a win in a non-divisional matchup of North Coast Athletic Conference rivals on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

The Gators took an early lead when Senna Perelman scored just 31 seconds into the contest, and scores from Evi Malagise, Perelman, and Brenna Lawler gave the visitors a 4-0 lead just under 5 minutes into the action.

Klabus converted a free-position shot to put the Bishops on the scoreboard just 20 seconds later, then followed with a score to make it 4-2.

Allegheny answered with scores from Grace Baginski, Malagise, and Ashley Amato to open up a 7-3 advantage.

Ohio Wesleyan reeled off the next 4 goals, getting a goal and an assist from sophomore attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) before senior defender Emily Sheridan (North Smithfield, R.I./Marianapolis (Conn.) Prep) got the equalizer with 4:11 left in the first half.

The Gators retook the lead when Liz Dolan and Emily Herrold scored during the final minute of the first half for a 9-7 lead at the break.

Senior midfielder Megan McElgunn (Cohasset, Mass.) opened the second-half scoring to bring the Bishops within 9-8, but Allegheny scored 3 times in a span of 64 seconds to extend the margin to 12-8.

Klabus rang up back-to-back goals to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 12-10, but goals by Malagise and Perelman restored Allegheny's 4-goal lead.

Goals from McElgunn and Egan pared the deficit to 14-12, but that was as close as the Bishops would come.

Klabus led the Bishops with 5 goals, while McElgunn and Egan finished with 2 goals and an assist apiece.

Senior Rachel Albers (Mason) made 9 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.

Perelman finished with 3 goals and 3 assists for Allegheny.  Finoa Barrett had 2 saves during the first half, and Sarah Thorman stopped 6 shots during the second half.
