Ohio Wesleyan 27, DePauw 12

Junior first baseman Izaiah Withrow (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) drove in 9 runs to set a school record and help Ohio Wesleyan outslug DePauw in a non-conference matchup of North Coast Athletic Conference West Division rivals on Sunday at Littick Field.

Withrow collected a 2-run single in the first, an RBI double in the second, a 2-run single in the fourth, a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and a 3-run homer in the sixth.  His 9 RBI breaks the school record of 8 set by Steve Chase against Denison on May 9, 1970, and tied by Scott Govoni against Wooster on May 15, 1993; by Drew Caravella against Salve Regina on March 19, 2000; and by Devin Van Winkle against Marietta on April 23, 2015.

DePauw struck for 4 runs in the top of the first, getting its first 4 hitters on base and scoring all of them with the help of a passed ball and an error.

The Bishops got 2 runs back in the bottom of the inning when junior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson) singled and senior third baseman Austin Harper (Sycamore/Mohawk) reached on a fielder's choice, with both runners eventually coming in to score on Withrow's 2-run single.

Ohio Wesleyan erupted for 12 runs in the second.  Freshman outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) led off the inning with a home run, Harper slammed a 3-run homer, Withrow doubled in a run, freshman catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)) drew a bases-loaded walk, senior shortstop C.J. Colson (Beachwood) doubled home 2 runs, sophomore second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) singled in a run, and Graham wrapped up the inning with a 2-run homer.

The Tigers rallied for 5 runs in the third, highlighted by a 2-run single by Evan Barnes, but the Bishops got 2 runs back in the bottom of the inning and extended the lead to 18-9 on Withrow's 2-run single in the fourth.

Junior catcher Lucas Stetter (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) doubled in 2 runs and Withrow plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and Withrow's 3-run homer capped a 6-run sixth inning.

Withrow finished the day at 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored and the 9 RBI.  Graham was 2-for-3 with 5 runs scored, tying for third place on the Bishop single-game list.  Neff and Harper each went 2-for-4 with 4 runs scored, Stetter was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, and Antle and Padilla also went 2-for-4.

Senior righthander Joey Watts (Marysville) picked up the win with 3.2 innings of 2-hit relief.

A.J. Waltermann was the starting and losing pitcher for DePauw.
