Junior Kaito Iwasaki (Sendai, Japan/Sendai Daini), freshman Preston Pethtel (Heath), and senior VaShawn Walker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) won events to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Larry Cole Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University on Friday in Ada.
Ohio Northern won the meet with 179 points to 108 for Ohio Wesleyan and Manchester. Adrian finished fourth 99 points and Anderson had 16 points.
Iwasaki won the 60-meter hurdles in :08.65, Pethtel won the 1000-meter run in 2:45.25, and Walker won the weight throw with a mark of 55-1.
Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Charley Morris (Denver, Colo./Denver School of the Arts), who placed second in the 500-meter run; senior Christian DeWiggins (Marysville), who finished second in the weight throw; sophomore Evan Miller (Wooster), who was second in the 1000-meter run; freshman Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), who was third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump; freshman Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales), who placed third in the 1000-meter run; senior Joey Verdugo (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Upper Sandusky), who placed third in the pole vault; freshman Logan McSwords (Marysville), who was third in the high jump; senior Jayden Byfield-Ramirez (Washington, D.C./Wilson), who placed third in the weight throw; junior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson), who finished fourth in the 400-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash; junior Clay Sturts (Lexington), who placed fifth in the 1000-meter run; freshman Trey Good (Marysville/Fairbanks), who was sixth in the 400-meter dash; junior Wyatt Wells (Marion/Pleasant), who was sixth in the pole vault; and sophomore Antonio Sonego (Medina), who placed sixth in the shot put.
The Ohio Wesleyan 800-meter relay team of Iwasaki, junior Zach Murrey (Logan), Good, and freshman Trey Theobald (Archbold) finished third, and the 1600-meter medley relay team of Morris, Miller, Bauer, and Leck placed fourth.
