Freshman Kyle Emsley (Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area), freshman Desmon Perry (Garnet Valley, Pa.), and junior Abe Spurlock (Brookline, Mass.) recorded pins to lead Ohio Wesleyan past Penn State-Behrend in a dual meet on Saturday in Erie, Pa.
The Bishops took an early 18-0 lead when the Lions, with only 6 wrestlers available for the meet, forfeited at 125, 133, and 141, with freshman Chase Wolfingbarger (Hilliard/Dublin Coffman), junior Donovan Ortiz (Port St. Lucie, Fla./American Heritage), and senior Max Beard (Palo Alto, Calif./Gunn) credited with wins at the respective classes.
Senior Bryce Wittman (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) won the first bout of the evening, stopping Cole Ruffo on a technical fall at 149.
Emsley then pinned Andrew Maser at 157 to extend the Bishop lead to 29-0.
Senior Jaret Lowry (Litchfield/Buckeye Senior) picked up a forfeit at 165.
Perry and Spurlock followed with pins, with Perry downing Brian Himes at 174 and Dylan Barber falling to Spurlock at 184.
Sophomore Marquel Henry (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne) recorded an 8-5 decision over Reno DiCesare at 197.
In the meet's final matchup, sophomore Haji Sidibe (Columbus/Beechcroft) lost a hard-fought, 3-2 decision to Joe Newara at 285.
