Senior post Cierra Joiner (Centerburg) had 4 points during a game-opening 8-0 run that started Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wooster on Monday at Branch Rickey Arena.
Sophomore guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) opened the evening's scoring with a lay-in, courtesy of a feed by Joiner, then Joiner followed with a lay-in and a pair of free throws before senior post Molly Delaney (Delaware/Olentangy) made it 8-0 with a lay-in.
Harley Holloway put the visitors on the scoreboard with a lay-in at the 5:30 mark of the quarter, and Wooster narrowed the deficit to 11-6 with lay-ins by Holloway and Jenna Stanton.
Buckets by sophomore wing Kelsey Wolfe (Apple Creek/Waynedale) and freshman post Alyssa Griner (Delaware/Hayes) gave the Bishops a 21-11 lead after the first period, and Ohio Wesleyan went on a 9-0 run early in the second quarter, getting a Wolfe 3-pointer and a Joiner jumper along the way.
Ohio Wesleyan closed out the half with a 13-2 run that included a pair of 3-pointers by freshman wing Chelsea Edington (Delaware/Buckeye Valley), and pulled away during the second half.
Joiner led the Bishops with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Wolfe finished with a season-high 15 points, Schipfer and Griner had 10 points apiece, and freshman guard Avery Maxeiner (Sunbury/Big Walnut) had a team-high 5 assists.
Holloway scored 15 points for Wooster.
