Junior guard Elizabeth Homan (Cincinnati/Anderson) scored with :12 remaining in regulation time to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay as the Bishops defeated Albion in the first round of the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament, hosted by Wilmington College on Friday in Wilmington.

Ohio Wesleyan will face the winner of Friday night's game between Grove City and Wilmington in the championship game at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bishops trailed, 44-30, after Albion's Lolo Reed opened the second-half scoring with a lay-in, and the Britons still led by a count of 61-53 after Riley Davis hit the second of 2 free throws with 5:52 left in the game.

Junior guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) sank a lay-in on the Bishops' ensuing possession, and after Davis hit the first of 2 free throws with 3:50 to play, sophomore post Karlee Ross (Beverly/Fort Frye) and Schipfer tallied lay-ins before Schipfer knocked down a jumper to make it a 62-61 game with 2:04 remaining.

Homan cleared a defensive rebound, was fouled, and sank both free throws to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead, but Davis split a pair of free throws at the 1:08 mark to leave the score tied at 63.

Homan then drove for a lay-in and the go-ahead score with :12 left and the Ohio Wesleyan defense closed out the game, holding Albion without a shot on its final possession.  The Bishops ended the game with a 12-2 run, holding the Britons without a field goal for the final 7:50 of regulation time.

Albion had opened up a double-digit lead with an 8-0 run early in the second quarter, and the margin hovered between 5-13 points during the remainder of the half.  Reed closed out the first-half scoring with a lay-in to make it 42-30 at the break, then opened the second half with a lay-in for the 14-point margin.

Schipfer led the Bishops with 22 points and 5 rebounds.  Junior guard Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) scored 13, Homan finished with 12 points and a team-high 6 assists, and sophomore post Alyssa Griner (Delaware/Hayes) added 10 points.
