Blaumeiser Paces Men's Cross Country at NCAA Regional

25th of 42 at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional

Freshman Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont) led Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, hosted by Hope College on Saturday in Holland, Mich.

John Carroll had 3 of the top 10 individual finishers to win the meet with a score of 48 points to 65 for Case Reserve.  Mount Union finished third with 108 points, followed by Otterbein (115), Calvin (141), Wilmington (242), Hope (247), DePauw (303), and Ohio Northern (346).  Oberlin finished 10th with 349 points, followed by Trine (353), Centre (357), Baldwin Wallace (456), Franciscan (489), Denison (495), Heidelberg (530), Wabash (539), Manchester (557), and Allegheny (585).  Rose-Hulman completed the top 20 teams with a score of 593, followed by Berea (595), Kenyon (621), Adrian (628), Wooster (662), Ohio Wesleyan (674), Wittenberg (693), Franklin (704), Olivet (712), Transylvania (827), Anderson (864), Muskingum (866), Hanover (932), Kalamazoo (936), Bluffton (951), Alma (962), Earlham (1060), Albion (1105), and Marietta (1233).  Capital, Defiance, Mount St. Joseph, and Spalding did not record team scores.

Alex Phillip of John Carroll won the race, completing the 8000-meter course in 23:56.7 to finish more than 25 seconds ahead of Wilmington's Simon Heys.

Blaumeiser finished 91st overall in 25:49.7.

Sophomore Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) was 109th in 26:06.5, sophomore Blake Johnson (Centerburg) placed 130th in 26:27.0, junior Evan Miller (Wooster) finished 157th in 26:57.9, and sophomore Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales) rounded out the Ohio Wesleyan scoring by finishing 193rd in 27:38.7.

Senior Ethan Bradt (Berea/Berea-Midpark) was 197th in 27:45.6, and sophomore Ethan McNichols (Gahanna/New Albany) was 208th in 28:03.4.
