Crawford Named NCAC Player of Year; 6 Bishops All-NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan University junior Allie Crawford (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) received a special award as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey teams, it was announced today.

Crawford, a forward, was named NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC selection.

Senior midfielder Veronica Hardman (Sydney, Australia/Ravenswood) also was a first-team all-conference pick, senior defender Cayla Homsher (Marietta, Pa./Donegal), sophomore goalkeeper Meg McCarthy (Trumbull, Conn.), and junior forward Emily Streeter (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) were second-team All-NCAC selections, and freshman forward Emma Wright (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) was a third-team choice.

Crawford leads the NCAC in goals (15) and points (35), ranks second in the league in game-winning goals (5), and is tied for for fourth in the conference in assists (5).

Hardman has 5 goals and an assist on the season, including the game-winning goal in the NCAC tournament championship game.  Hardman was a second-team All-NCAC selection in 2021 and an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2019.

Homsher is a starter on a Bishop defense that has posted 17 shutouts, allowing only 1 goal on the season, and leads NCAA field hockey (all divisions) in shutouts per game (0.94).  Homsher was a first-team all-conference pick in 2019.

McCarthy leads NCAA field hockey (all divisions) in both goals-against average (0.064) and saves percentage (.933) and has backstopped a defense that has posted 17 shutouts, allowing only 1 goal on the season, and leads NCAA field hockey (all divisions) in shutouts per game (0.94). 

Streeter ranks second on the team and is tied for third in the NCAC with 11 goals, stands third on the team and is tied for fourth in the conference with 5 assists, and is second on the team and third in the NCAC in points with 27.

Wright ranks third on the team and is tied for ninth in the conference with 6 goals this season.

Ohio Wesleyan is 16-2 heading into the NCAA Division III tournament.  The Bishops finished second in the NCAC championship race with a 7-1 record, then won the NCAC tournament to claim the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III tournament.  The tournament title was the second in a row for Ohio Wesleyan.
