10th of 20 at All-Ohio championship
Senior Joey Verdugo (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Upper Sandusky) won All-Ohio honors in representing Ohio Wesleyan at the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday in Westerville.
Mount Union won the meet with 186½ points to 109 for Ohio Northern. Case Reserve finished third with 64½ points, followed by Wilmington, Otterbein, and Wittenberg (43), Denison (35), John Carroll (34), and Wooster (24½). Ohio Wesleyan finished off the top 10 teams with a score of 19 points, followed by Mount St. Joseph (18), Kenyon (11), Oberlin, Franciscan, and Baldwin Wallace (10), Muskingum (8), Capital (7½), Defiance (5), and Heidelberg and Marietta (0).
Verdugo finished second in the pole vault with a height of 15-4½.
Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Levi Kilian (Ault, Colo./Heritage Christian Academy), who finished fourth in the 800-meter run; and junior Wyatt Wells (Marion/Pleasant), who was eighth in the pole vault.
The Ohio Wesleyan 800-meter relay team of freshman Trey Theobald (Archbold), junior Zach Murrey (Logan), freshman Trey Good (Marysville/Fairbanks), and junior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson) finished fifth, and the distance medley relay team of freshman Preston Pethtel (Heath), Theobald, freshman Charley Morris (Denver, Colo./Denver School of the Arts), and junior Ethan Bradt (Berea/Berea-Midpark) placed eighth.
Final Results
