McPheters, Patton Win All-Ohio Titles

4th of 18 at All-Ohio championship

Senior Ari McPheters (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) and senior Chase Patton (Delaware/Hayes) won All-Ohio titles in representing Ohio Wesleyan at the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday in Westerville.

Mount Union won the meet with 187 points to 82½ for Oberlin.  Otterbein finished third with 61 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (50), Baldwin Wallace (45), Ohio Northern (40), John Carroll (38), Wooster (36), and Wittenberg (34).  Case Reserve rounded out the top 10 teams with 33 points, followed by Denison (25), Kenyon and Marietta (21), Wilmington (11), Defiance (3), Heidelberg (2½), and Capital and Muskingum (0).

McPheters won the shot put with a throw of 42-4¾.

Patton won the pole vault by clearing 11-9¼.

Also winning All-Ohio honors were junior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak), who finished second in the high jump; and the 800-meter relay team of senior Julia Dickman (Marysville), senior Zoe Price (Bellefontaine), freshman Sarah Mazzei (Rocky River), and sophomore Addystin Lykins (Carey), which finished third.  The All-Ohio citation was the second for Howell, and Dickman and Price previously garnered All-Ohio honors as part of the Bishop 800-meter relay team in 2020.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Annika Green (Granville), who placed fifth in the pole vault; senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy), who was fifth in the weight throw; senior Kylee McFarland (Granville), who finished eighth in the mile run; and sophomore Sarah Watson (Fremont/Ross), who was eighth in the high jump.

The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of freshman Lia Sadd (Avon), sophomore Mckela Elder (Fremont/Ross), McFarland, and Dickman placed fifth, and the distance medley relay team of senior Jenna Hotchkiss (Newark/Licking Valley), junior Audrey Calvin (Medina/Akron Our Lady of the Elms), Elder, and junior Lauren Montgomery (Newark/Licking Valley) finished seventh.
