James Places in NCAC Pentathlon

Freshman Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian) placed for Ohio Wesleyan during the North Coast Athletic Conference multi-event championship, hosted by the College of Wooster on Sunday in Wooster.

James finished sixth with a score of 2556 points.  Also representing the Bishops were sophomore Ireland Nowak (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), who was ninth with 2494 points, and freshman Lia Sadd (Avon), who was 11th with 1901 points.

James placed fourth in 3 of the 5 events on the day, opening the competition with a :10.00 in the 60-meter hurdles for 712 points, posting a mark of 15-11¾ in the long jump for 524 points, and completing the 800-meter run in 2:38.06 for 595 points.  James also scored 512 points by clearing 4-7 in the high jump.

Nowak finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:35.35, good for 627 points, and tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-10½ for 610 points.  Nowak collected 602 points in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in :10.61, and added 401 points in the long jump with a leap of 14-5.

Sadd had the Bishops' best individual finish of the meet, with a throw of 31-4¾ in the shot put good for second overall and 501 points.  Sadd also finished eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:50.59, adding 457 points, and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 14-9¾ for 431 points.

The 3 points scored by James will carry over to next week's NCAC championship meet.
