Freshman Tyler Bodovetz (Streetsboro) recorded a pin to start Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a win over Defiance in a dual meet on Tuesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Wrestling at 174 pounds, Bodovetz pinned Sean Rankin in the final seconds of the first period to give the Bishops a 6-0 lead, and junior Abe Spurlock (Brookline, Mass.) followed with a 19-6 major decision over Jack Minner at 184.

Sophomore Marquel Henry (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne) scored a takedown in the final seconds to edge Mason Morris, 6-5, at 197 to extend the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 13-0.

Rigoberto Villa put the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard with a pin of sophomore Haji Sidibe (Columbus/Beechcroft) at 285.

Junior Donovan Ortiz (Port St. Lucie, Fla./American Heritage) won by forfeit at 125 for a 19-6 Bishop lead, but the visitors rallied as Seth Majewski posted a 14-4 major decision over senior Ryan McElwee (Pickerington/Central) at 133 and Alex Smith pinned senior Max Beard (Palo Alto, Calif./Gunn) at 141 to narrow the deficit to 19-16.

Senior Bryce Wittman (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) notched a 10-0 major decision over Cortez Bradley at 149 and senior Caleb Blake (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) defeated Matt Beard on a technical fall, 15-0, at 157 to clinch the match for the Bishops.

Senior Jaret Lowry (Litchfield/Buckeye Senior) wrapped up the meet by rallying for a 10-8 overtime win over Keringten Martin at 165.

In exhibition matchups, freshman Kyle Emsley (Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) pinned Brent Eicher at 149 and senior Ross Eggleston (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) pinned Rankin at 174.
