Junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) belted a 3-run homer to highlight the Ohio Wesleyan offense in a non-conference loss to Lebanon Valley on Friday in Punta Gorda, Fla.
The Flying Dutchmen scored 5 times in the first inning, stringing together 4 hits and a walk, and added 4 runs in the second and 4 more in the third.
Ohio Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the third as sophomore catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)) led off with a walk, took second on a wild pitch, and scored on a double by freshman third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius).
In the bottom of the fourth, senior first baseman Luigi Russo (Kelowna, B.C./Rutland Senior) singled with one out, senior catcher Lucas Stetter (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) reached on an error by LVC shortstop Justin Ranker, and, one out later, Neff launched a home run.
Sophomore righthander Jason Monos (Amherst/Steele) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
