Ohio Wesleyan University senior Cierra Joiner (Centerburg), sophomore Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), and sophomore Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball teams, it was announced today by the NCAC.
Joiner, a post player, was a first-team All-NCAC selection. Schipfer, a guard, was a second-team all-conference choice, and Denison, a guard, was an honorable mention pick.
Joiner ranks second in the NCAC in scoring and eighth in rebounding with averages of 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Joiner leads the league in field goals (197), offensive rebounds (89), and points (453) and also ranks third in field goal percentage (.508) and blocked shots (35), fifth in total rebounds (210), is tied for ninth in free throws (59), and ranks 10th in steals (41), and 12th in assists (62).
Schipfer ranks seventh in the conference in scoring and ninth in rebounding with averages of 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Schipfer also leads the league in steals (56) and ranks third in points (375) and field goals (149), fourth in free throws (70), fifth in field goal percentage (.493), seventh in free throw percentage (.778) and total rebounds (198), and 14th in assists (59) and blocked shots (13).
Denison ranks 19th in the conference in scoring with an average of 9.9 points per game. Denison also ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage (.392), third in 3-point field goals (58), 13th in steals (37), 15th in field goal percentage (.407), and 17th in field goals (100).
Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 21-7 record. The Battling Bishops placed third in the NCAC championship race and advanced to the conference tournament championship game.
