Ohio Wesleyan 3, Heidelberg 2

Senior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson) drove in the go-ahead run and senior righthander Gavin Pulliam (Franklin, Tenn.) turned in a solid pitching performance as Ohio Wesleyan rallied for a non-conference decision over Heidelberg on Thursday at Littick Field.

The Student Princes took an early lead when Keaton Mark sent a ball over the leftfield fence in the top of the first inning, then made it 2-0 in the third on Eric DeVore's sacrifice fly.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the game in the fourth as sophomore outfielder Ryan Stefancin (Cleveland/North Ridgeville) led off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, and scored on a Graham single.  After an infield single by senior shortstop Colin Spranger (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), the runners moved up on a passed ball and sophomore outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) knocked in the tying run with an infield out.

In the bottom of the fifth, junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) led off with a walk and moved to second and third on a pair of wild pitches.  Graham followed with a fly ball to center to plate Neff.

Heidelberg threatened in the eighth and the ninth, getting 2 runners on base in each frame, but freshman righthander Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) got out of the eighth and sophomore righthander Andy Anthony (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) worked a scoreless ninth.

Stefancin was 2-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Pulliam allowed 3 hits over the first 6.1 innings, striking out 5, walking 3, and picking off 2 Heidelberg baserunners.  Anthony was credited with a save.

Jackson Powers was charged with the loss for Heidelberg.
