Freshman midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored 4 times as Ohio Wesleyan built a 14-0 halftime lead and went on to a win over DePauw in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
Wiseman fed senior attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) for the first goal of the day, and the Bishops would add 3 more goals during the opening period, with Wiseman, Anton, and senior midfielder Conor McGeeney (Loveland/Archbishop Moeller) finding the back of the net.
Ohio Wesleyan would ring up 10 goals during the second quarter, led by 3 from Wiseman and 2 by freshman attacker Carson Geier (Milford).
Sophomore midfielder Henry Little (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) and freshman midfielder Malik Sillah (Bethesda, Md./Montgomery) each scored twice during the second half.
Wiseman led the Bishops with 4 goals and an assist. Anton finished wtih 3 goals. Freshman MacGuire Scholl (Upper Arlington) made 3 saves during the first 21-plus minutes, junior Carl Mazabras (New Canaan, Conn.) completed the first half in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, sophomore Paddy Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) had 1 save during the third quarter, and junior George Whitney (Marion, Mass./Tabor Academy) was credited with 3 saves during the fourth period.
Danny Karbowski and Henry White scored for DePauw. Patrick Lawson made 15 saves during the first half and Jack Gruchacz stopped 7 shots during the second half.
