Swarthmore 12, Ohio Wesleyan 3

Senior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson) and senior first baseman Izaiah Withrow (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) knocked in runs to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard in a non-conference loss to Swarthmore on Tuesday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

The Garnet took a 2-0 lead in the fifth when George Briggs tripled in a run and scored on an infield out by Kirk Terada-Herzer.  Swarthmore added 2 runs without the benefit of a hit in the sixth and tacked on 4 more runs in the eighth.

Junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) led off the home eighth with a single and scored on a double by Graham.  After a walk to sophomore outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School), Withrow singled home Graham.

The Bishops got their first 3 batters on base in the bottom of the ninth as junior outfielder Max Pershin (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech College Prep) was hit by a pitch and sophomore catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)) and freshman third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius) drew walks, with Pershin eventually scoring on a wild pitch.

Graham was 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Freshman righthander Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) was charged with the loss in relief.

Alex Schoessler blanked the Bishops on 2 hits over the first 6.0 innings to collect the win for Swarthmore.
