Ohio Wesleyan 11, Ferrum 9

Sophomore midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) scored the go-ahead goal midway through the fourth quarter during a game-ending 3-0 run that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over Ferrum in non-conference action on Tuesday in Ferrum, Va.

The Panthers went on a 4-0 run that included 3 goals by Micaela Harvey to take a 9-8 lead with 11:04 left in regulation time.

Sophomore attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) converted a free-position shot to tie the game at the 9:48 mark, and DelGallo followed with what proved to be the game-winner with 6:56 to play.  Senior attacker Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.) provided some insurance by converting a free-position shot with 5:48 remaining.

Freshman Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) preserved the lead by denying Harvey on a free-position shot with 3:29 to go, and Floyd and junior midfielder Evie Williams (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School) caused turnovers down the stretch to help the Bishops close out the game.

Ohio Wesleyan built an early 6-1 lead as Klabus, junior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.), and freshman midfielder Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) scored 2 goals apiece, but the Panthers closed to within 6-4 as Megan Allen scored twice, then started the 4-0 run late in the third quarter to take the 9-8 lead.

Klabus led the Bishops with 3 goals, while Egan and Fleming each contributed a goal and an assist.  Markowitz finished with 4 saves.

Harvey led Ferrum with 3 goals and an assist.  Amanda Thomas made 2 saves during the first half and Faith Chubbuck stopped 4 shots during the second half for the Panthers.
