Senior catcher Lucas Stetter (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) belted a 2-run homer to plate what proved to be the deciding runs in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Wooster on Sunday at Littick Field.

In the nightcap, junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) smashed a 3-run homer to highlight the Bishop offense, but the Fighting Scots went on to take a win and salvage a split.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the opener on singles by senior first baseman Luigi Russo (Kelowna, B.C./Rutland Senior), senior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson), and sophomore outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School), but Wooster got the run back on Michael Thomas' solo shot in the third.

The Bishops took the lead for good in the bottom of the third as Russo was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a passed ball, and scored on Graham's single.  Stetter followed with a home run to increase the Bishop lead to 4-1.

Wooster rallied with an RBI double by Eli Westrick in the sixth and a solo homer by Dominic Stilliana in the seventh, but Padilla drove in an insurance run in the bottom of the inning.

Stetter was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Graham and Padilla each went 2-for-4.  Senior righthander Gavin Pulliam (Franklin, Tenn.) scattered 6 hits over the first 6.1 innings to collect the win, and sophomore righthander Jason Monos (Amherst/Steele) blanked the visitors over the final 2.2 innings for a save.

Mitchell Reardon was the starting and losing pitcher for Wooster.

The Bishops took an early lead in the nightcap as Graham singled home a run in bottom of the first inning, but Wooster answered in the top of the second with a bases-loaded walk to Stilliana.

The visitors got a 3-run homer from Jack Henderson during a 4-run third, homers by Thomas and Ben Hines during a 3-run fourth, and a 2-run double by Ben Gbur during a 3-run fifth.

With 2 down in the bottom of the fifth, Russo was hit by a pitch and Graham singled before Neff launched a 3-run homer, but Wooster added 2 runs in the sixth and 3 more in the seventh.

Russo was 2-for-3 and Graham went 2-for-4 for the Bishops.  Junior righthander Michael Lipscomb (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.

Westrick worked the first 5.0 innings to record the win for Wooster.
