Freshman midfielder Sammy Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 7-6, but DePauw ended the game with a 5-0 run to take a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Sunday at Selby Stadium.
DePauw had built a 6-2 halftime lead with the help of 2 goals from Emma Kennedy.
The Bishops opened the third quarter with a score by freshman midfielder Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette), and sophomore midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) and Fleming followed with goals just 23 seconds apart to make it a 6-5 game midway through the quarter. DePauw ended that run with a score by Bria Randolph, but Johnson countered with a goal at the 4:54 mark to make it 7-6.
Kennedy scored for DePauw less than a minute after that, then added a goal early in the fourth period to kick off a run of 3 goals in less than 2 minutes that put the Tigers up, 11-6.
Fleming led the Bishops with 2 goals. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) finished with 6 saves.
Kennedy had 5 goals and 3 assists for DePauw. Lydia Hollis made 8 saves in the Tiger crease.
