Junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City) knocked in 3 runs and freshman third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius) drove in 2 more for Ohio Wesleyan in the nightcap of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Allegheny on Saturday at Littick Field.
The second game was halted because of darkness with Allegheny holding an 18-10 lead in the top of the sixth inning. The game will be resumed, with the date and time to be announced.
In the opener, Allegheny's Brady Nolin and Ryan Dougherty drove in 4 runs apiece and Conor Deasy fired a 3-hit shutout to lead the Gators to the win.
Dougherty belted a 3-run homer in the second inning of the opener, and the Gators added 6 runs in the fourth with the help of a solo shot by Jacob Budnar and a 3-run blast by Nolin.
Senior righthander Gavin Pulliam (Franklin, Tenn.) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
Allegheny built a 4-0 lead after 2 innings of the nightcap, with Dougherty knocking in one run and scoring another, and Dougherty added a 2-run double during Allegheny's 7-run third.
Neff put the Bishops on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third, but the visitors answered with 7 more runs in the fourth, highlighted by Tyson Bryant-Dawson's 3-run homer.
Ohio Wesleyan rallied with 9 runs in the bottom of the fifth, with Brazytis lining a 2-run single and Neff ripping a 2-run double, and the game was called with the Gators batting in the top of the sixth.
