Howell, McPheters Win All-Ohio Crowns, Bishops Place Second

Junior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak), senior Ari McPheters (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley), and the Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team of senior Zoe Price (Bellefontaine), senior Julia Dickman (Marysville), freshman Sarah Mazzei (Rocky River), and sophomore Addystin Lykins (Carey) won All-Ohio championships to lead the Bishops at the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at the George Gauthier Track and Selby Stadium.

Case Reserve won the meet with 132 points to 125 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Wooster was third with 113½ points, followed by Oberlin (111), Denison (74), Wittenberg (70½), Ohio Northern (47), Kenyon (34), Marietta (29), Defiance (16), Otterbein (10), Mount St. Joseph (8), Bluffton (5), and Muskingum (1).

Howell won the high jump in a jump-off, clearing 5-6.

McPheters won the shot put with a throw of 42-2¾.

The 400-meter relay team broke the tape in :49.31.

Price also won All-Ohio citations with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and a third-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles.  Also claiming All-Ohio recognition were freshman Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), who was second in the 400-meter hurdles and added a sixth in the long jump; senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy), who finished second in the hammer and added an eighth-place finish in the discus; Dickman, who finished third in the 100-meter dash; senior Kylee McFarland (Granville), who was third in the 800-meter run; senior Jenna Hotchkiss (Newark/Licking Valley), who placed third in the 10,000-meter run; senior Chase Patton (Delaware/Hayes), who was third in the pole vault; sophomore Anna Court (Galion), who finished third in the discus; and the 1600-meter relay team of sophomore McKela Elder (Fremont/Ross), Howell, James, and McFarland, which finished third.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Elder, who finished fourth in the 800-meter run; Lykins, who was fifth in the 200-meter dash; junior Veronica Hardman (Blenheim, New Zealand/Ravenswood), who was fifth in the long jump; junior Jordan Holton (Chelsea, Mich.), who finished fifth in the javelin; junior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who tied for fifth in the high jump; sophomore Sarah Watson (Fremont/Ross), who placed seventh in the high jump; sophomore Annika Green (Granville), who tied for seventh in the pole vault; and freshman Lia Sadd (Avon), who placed eighth in the 400-meter dash.
