Senior attacker Henry Hasenberg (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola) collected 4 goals and 2 assists during a 13-1 game-opening run to help Ohio Wesleyan to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wittenberg on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
Senior attacker Will Anton (Madison, N.J.) put the Bishops on the scoreboard just 31 seconds into the game, and scores from senior midfielder Jack Damon (Portsmouth, R.I.) and freshman midfielder Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) followed shortly thereafter.
Hasenberg fed junior midfielder Brody Leinson (Littleton, Mass.) for a goal, and senior attacker Luke Swaddling (Strongsville/Lakewood St. Edward) followed with a score to make it 5-0.
Wittenberg's Connor Matthews drove for a goal to put the Tigers on the board at the 6:09 mark of the opening quarter, but Hasenberg answered with a goal, then opened the second-quarter scoring with another goal for a 7-1 Bishop lead.
Hasenberg tallied a man-down goal with 10:23 remaining, and during an extended man-up situation following that scoring play, Ohio Wesleyan added 3 more goals, with Swaddling, Hasenberg, and sophomore midfielder Henry Little (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) each finding the back of the net.
Senior defenseman Joe Connor (Barrie, Ontario/Everest Academy) wrapped up the first-half scoring with a goal in the final minute of the second half, giving the Bishops a 15-3 lead at the break. Freshman attacker Carson Geier (Milford) scored twice during the third quarter and added another goal during the fourth quarter.
Hasenberg finished with 4 goals and 6 assists. Geier added 3 goals and 2 assists. Freshman MacGuire Scholl (Upper Arlington) made 5 saves during the first half and junior Carl Mazabras (New Canaan, Conn.) stopped 9 shots during the second half.
Ben Holland and Nathan Brown scored 2 goals apiece for Wittenberg. Brandon Shevins had 6 saves for the Tigers.
