Ohio Wesleyan 11, Transylvania 6

Junior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay in the third quarter to start the Bishops on their way to a non-conference win over Transylvania on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
The win continued the Bishops' best start since 2006, when Ohio Wesleyan also won 10 of its first 11 games.
Egan put the Bishops up a goal in the opening minutes of the third quarter, giving them their first lead of the game. They were able to add another goal 2 minutes later, a goal by sophomore midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.), increasing their lead to 6-4.
Sophomore attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) put the Bishops up another goal off a free-position shot, giving them a 3-goal advantage.
The Pioneers were able to add their own goal 30 seconds later from Charlotte Green, making the score 7-5.
The Bishops were able to reset their 3-goal lead off a goal from senior attacker Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.), making it 8-5. The score stayed the same going into the remaining minutes of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Pioneers were able to score off a goal for Ysa Leon with five and a half minutes left in the match, making the score 8-6.
Ohio Wesleyan was able to come back a minute later with a goal from junior midfielder Evie Williams (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School). DelGallo added her second of the match in the final 2 minutes of the game, giving the Bishops a 4-goal lead. A minute later the Bishops added another one from freshman midfielder Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) to make the score 11-6, and Ohio Wesleyan played out the remaining 52 seconds.
Transylvania opened up the scoring in the second minute with a goal by Abbey Peterson, but Fleming was able to get the equalizer. A pair of goals from Transylvania came in the final 6 minutes of the opening quarter. In the second quarter, Ohio Wesleyan was able to outscore Transylvania, 3-1, evening the game right before the half. Klabus scored the first and last goals of the quarter, getting into a good stride, with Fleming able to get her second of the game, sandwiched between the two by Klabus.
Klabus led the Bishops with 3 goals and an assist, and Fleming also scored 3 goals. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) had 6 saves on the day, coming up big in the fourth quarter to keep the Bishops' 5-goal lead.
Ysa Leon and Mandi Rider each scored twice for Transylvania. Amara Wagner recorded 22 saves for the Pioneers.
