at Vertklasse Meeting

Junior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak) won the high jump during the second day of the Vertklasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University on Friday in High Point, N.C.

The meet, which included competitors from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III institutions, was not scored.

Howell won Group A in the high jump, clearing 5-7¼ to defeat a field that included entries from Winston-Salem State, Duke, Appalachian State, Wheeling, and Liberty.

Sophomore Sarah Watson (Fremont/Ross) finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5-1¼.

Senior Chase Patton (Delaware/Hayes) placed 14th in Group A of the pole vault, clearing 10-11¾.  Senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy) finished 15th in the hammer and the discus with respective throws of 142-1 and 122-11.  Senior Ari McPheters (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) was 18th in the hammer with a mark of 137-6.  Sophomore Anna Court (Galion) finished 18th in the discus with a throw of 115-2.

The Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team finished 13th in :50.25.  The Bishop "A" 1600-meter relay team was 15th in 4:22.42, while the "B" relay team placed 17th in 4:44.17.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), who was 11th in the participation section of the 400-meter hurdles in 1:12.27 and 15th in the participation section of the 100-meter hurdles in :17.11; sophomore McKela Elder (Fremont/Ross), who placed 11th in the participation section of the 800-meter run in 2:27.67; senior Zoe Price (Bellefontaine), who finished 13th in the participation section of the 100-meter hurdles in :17.00; sophomore Ava Klann (Dublin/Coffman), who finished 14th in the participation section of the 100-meter hurdles in :17.04 and 16th in the participation section of the 400-meter hurdles in 1:17.31; and junior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who was 18th in the participation section of the 100-meter hurdles in :17.93.
