6th of 15 at Otterbein Twilight meet

Senior Joey Verdugo (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Upper Sandusky (Ohio)) recorded Ohio Wesleyan's best individual finish at the Otterbein Twilight meet, hosted by Otterbein University on Friday in Westerville.

Cedarville won the meet with 147½ points to 77 for Otterbein.  Wheeling finished third with 67½ points, followed by Malone (66), Ashland (55), Ohio Wesleyan (48), Ohio State club (43), Mount Union (42), Capital (36), Roberts Wesleyan (24), Shawnee State (16), Ohio Dominican (13), and Lourdes and Dayton (12).

Verdugo tied for first place in the pole vault with a height of 13-9¼.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), who finished second in the long jump; senior Cooper Berry (Middlefield, Conn./Coginchaug), who was third in the pole vault; junior Wyatt Wells (Marion/Pleasant), who finished fifth in the pole vault; senior Jayden Byfield-Ramirez (Washington, D.C./Wilson), who was sixth in the hammer; freshman Trey Theobald (Archbold), who placed sixth in the javelin; sophomore Dylan Liggett (Medina/Highland), who was sixth in the 100-meter dash; senior Christian DeWiggins (Marysville), who finished seventh in the hammer; and senior VaShawn Walker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley), who placed eighth in the hammer.

The Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team of Liggett, junior Zach Murrey (Logan), freshman Trey Good (Marysville/Fairbanks), and Theobald finished third, while the 1600-meter relay team of Theobald, Murrey, sophomore Evan Miller (Wooster), and junior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson) placed sixth.
