Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 10, Capital 7

Junior outfielder Max Pershin (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech College Prep) delivered a 2-run double that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and senior shortstop Colin Spranger (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) followed with a 2-run homer to cap a 5-run eighth inning that lifted the Bishops to a non-conference win over Capital on Tuesday at Littick Field.

The Bishops trailed, 7-5, entering the bottom of the eighth when senior outfielder Davis Graham (Canton/Massillon Jackson) led off the inning with a single.  Sophomore first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) and freshman outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) reached on errors by Capital second baseman Josh Sagredo, bringing home Graham, before Pershin's double scored Ysseldyke and Stoner.  Spranger then sent a ball just to the right of the batter's eye in centerfield to increase the lead to 10-7.

Stoner came on in relief in the top of the ninth and retired the side in order to notch his first save of the season.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 4-0 lead in the first inning, getting a leadoff single from senior third baseman Luigi Russo (Kelowna, B.C./Rutland Senior) and consecutive doubles from Graham, junior second baseman D.J. Neff (Grove City), and Ysseldyke during the inning.  Capital countered with 4 runs in the third, with Logan White hitting a 3-run homer, and the Comets added single runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to take the 7-5 lead.

Pershin went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Graham was 2-for-3 and Stoner went 2-for-4.  Sophomore righthander Jason Monos (Amherst/Steele) was the winning pitcher in relief for the Bishops.

Brennon Newell was charged with the loss in relief for Capital.
