Freshman outfielder Alyssa Perkins (Fredericktown) knocked in a run during a sixth-inning rally that saw Ohio Wesleyan bring the go-ahead run to the plate, but sixth-ranked DePauw survived the threat and held on for a win in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday in Greencastle, Ind.

In the nightcap, freshman outfielder Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen) and sophomore second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley) drove in runs to help the Bishops pull within 5-3, but the Tigers held on to complete the sweep.

DePauw took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener as Paige Price and Emily Timberman drove in runs, and the Tigers made it 3-0 when Goose Moore scored in the fourth.

Ohio Wesleyan loaded the bases with one out in the sixth on a single by sophomore third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark), a walk to Cegledy, and a single by sophomore first baseman Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman), bringing Perkins to the plate as the go-ahead run.  Perkins plated Back with a fielder's choice, but DePauw reliever Cami Henry retired freshman infielder Reese King (Sterling/Creston Norwayne) on a liner back to the circle to get out of the inning.

The Tigers added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by Alyssa Anderson and a 2-run single by Chase Epp.

Sophomore lefthander Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood) pitched the complete game for Ohio Wesleyan, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Annika Garwood pitched the first 5.1 innings to collect the win for DePauw, and Henry got the final 5 outs for a save.

The Tigers took the lead in the second inning of the nightcap on Katerina Kilgore's run-scoring single and added 2 more runs in the third and another in the fourth.

Sophomore infielder Tori Garey (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley) led off the Ohio Wesleyan fifth with a walk and sophomore catcher Sara Bias (Sandusky/St. Mary's Central Catholic) followed with a single, with the runners moving up on an error by Tiger second baseman Riley Heim.  Panozzo drove in Garey with an infield out, and after a double by Back, Cegledy singled home Bias, with Back checking in at third.  Back then scored on the front end of a double steal to make it 4-3, and Perkins followed with a single but was thrown out at second trying to advance on the throw to the plate.

Perkins was 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Chittum was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.

Henry pitched the complete game for DePauw.
