Howell, Price Lead Bishops to Marv Frye Team Title

Junior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak) and senior Zoe Price (Bellefontaine) won events for Ohio Wesleyan to lead the Bishops to the team title at the Marv Frye Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the George Gauthier Track and Selby Stadium.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 124 points to 120 for Albion.  Calvin finished third with 97 points, followed by Wilmington (79½), Denison and Baldwin Wallace (62), Marietta (46½), Kenyon (28), Capital and Heidelberg (15), Muskingum (13), Mount St. Joseph (10), Bluffton (5), and Ohio Christian (3).

Howell won the high jump by clearing 5-6.

Price won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.11.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), who was second in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump; junior Veronica Hardman (Blenheim, New Zealand/Ravenswood), who was second in the long jump; junior Jordan Holton (Chelsea, Mich.), who finished second in the javelin; senior Chase Patton (Delaware/Hayes), who placed second in the pole vault; senior Ari McPheters (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley), who placed second in the shot put; senior Julia Dickman (Marysville), who finished third in the 100-meter dash; sophomore Sarah Watson (Fremont/Ross), who placed third in the high jump; sophomore Annika Green (Granville), who was third in the pole vault; sophomore Ava Klann (Dublin/Coffman), who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles; senior Kylee McFarland (Granville), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; junior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who was fourth in the high jump; sophomore Anna Court (Galion), who finished fifth in the discus; senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy), who finished fifth in the hammer; senior Anna duSaire (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park), who was sixth in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump and javelin; freshman Sarah Mazzei (Rocky River), who placed seventh in the 100-meter dash; and sophomore McKela Elder (Fremont/Ross), who finished eighth the 1000-meter run.

The Bishop 1600-meter relay team of James, Price, sophomore Siarra Hoover (Frazeysburg/Newark Licking Valley), and freshman Lia Sadd (Avon) finished third.

The Marv Frye Invitational honors the longtime Battling Bishop mentor, who coached the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team from 1961-97. Frye also coached men's cross country, women's track & field, and women's cross country during his time at Ohio Wesleyan, and remains active in the central Ohio track & field community.
