Junior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak) won All-America honors while representing Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III championship meet, hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission on Friday at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Howell finished fifth in the high jump.  Howell cleared the first 2 heights on her first attempt, then missed at 5-5¼ before clearing on the second attempt.  Howell then sailed over the bar on the first attempt at 5-6½ as the field narrowed to 7 competitors.  With the bar raised to 5-7¾, Howell missed all 3 attempts and finished fifth based on the number of missed attempts.

Howell was tied for the No. 4 seed with a height of 5-7¼ heading into the meet.  Howell won All-America honors in the high jump with a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III indoor championship meet on March 12.

Howell's fifth-place finish gave Ohio Wesleyan 4 points in the team standings, good for a tie for 52nd place among the 69 teams that scored in the meet.
