Kenyon 12, Ohio Wesleyan 6
Senior attacker Henry Hasenberg (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola) and senior midfielder Conor McGeeney (Loveland/Archbishop Moeller) led Ohio Wesleyan with 2 goals apiece, but Kenyon defeated the Bishops in a semifinal matchup of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday in Gambier.
The Lords got scores from 5 different players on the way to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, and increased the margin to 6-0 on a man-up goal by Joe Boesel midway through the second period.
Hasenberg put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard with 2:56 left in the first half, courtesy of an assist by senior attacker Luke Swaddling (Strongsville/Lakewood St. Edward), and a slashing penalty on the play presented a man-up opportunity to the Bishops, but Kenyon's Matt Pollack countered with a man-down goal to give the hosts a 7-1 lead.
Senior midfielder Jack Damon (Portsmouth, R.I.) and McGeeney tallied goals during the third quarter, but the Bishops were unable to pull any closer, and the Lords opened the fourth period with 3 straight scores to extend the margin to 12-3.
McGeeney, Swaddling, and Hasenberg rallied the Bishops with fourth-quarter scores for the 12-6 final.
Hasenberg led Ohio Wesleyan with 2 goals and an assist, while McGeeney finished with 2 goals. Freshman goalkeeper MacGuire Scholl (Upper Arlington) collected 13 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.
