8th of 9 at NCAC championship
Junior Levi Kilian (Ault, Colo./Heritage Christian Academy) repeated as a special award winner in leading Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Oberlin College on Friday in Oberlin.
Wabash won the meet with 171 points to 132½ for Denison. Wittenberg finished third with 107 points, Oberlin (88), DePauw (83), Allegheny (76), Wooster (69½), Ohio Wesleyan (58), and Kenyon (34).
Kilian was named Distance/Middle Distance Runner of the Year for the second straight year. Kilian won the 1500-meter run in 3:57.95, winning by a margin of a quarter of a second, and broke the tape in the 800-meter run in 1:56.23, winning by a margin of .13 seconds -- just over an eighth of a second. It was Kilian's second consecutive conference title in the 1500-meter run and his second straight All-NCAC citation in the 800-meter run.
Kilian also anchored the Bishop 1600-meter relay team, teaming with freshman Charley Morris (Denver, Colo./Denver School of the Arts), junior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson), and freshman Trey Theobald (Archbold) for a fourth-place finish.
All-NCAC honors also went to the Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team of sophomore Dylan Liggett (Medina/Highland), junior Zach Murrey (Logan), freshman Trey Good (Marysville/Fairbanks), and Theobald, which finished second.
Other standouts for the Bishops included Liggett, who finished fifth in the 100-meter dash; Murrey, who was seventh in the 200-meter dash; Theobald, who finished eighth in the javelin; and freshman Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington), who placed eighth in the 800-meter run.
