at Comet Invitational

Senior Tucker Strawser (Lewis Center/Olentangy) stood out for Ohio Wesleyan as the Bishops opened their season at the Comet Invitational, hosted by Capital University on Friday and Saturday in Columbus.

Strawser advanced to the finals of the "C" singles bracket, defeating Jesse Stevens of Capital, 6-0, 7-5, in the quarterfinals and coming from behind to move past Cody Keller of Lourdes, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) in a semifinal matchup.  In the final, Strawser fell to Thomas Secrist of Capital by scores of 6-1, 6-3.

In the "A" bracket, senior José Mancilla (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Tecnologico de Monterrey) and junior Mark Siriwanichkul (Bangkok, Thailand/St. Andrew International School) advanced in the consolation bracket.  Mancilla defeated Capital's Jay Fortner, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2, in one semifinal and Siriwanichkul downed junior Marcelo Aguilar (Columbus/Olentangy Liberty), 6-1, 6-1.  In the consolation final, Siriwanichkul defeated Mancilla in a walkover.

Siriwanichkul recorded Ohio Wesleyan's other singles win of the tournament with a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Luis Guzman of Lourdes.
