2022-23 Season Preview

The Ohio Wesleyan men's golf team returns intact from last season, and the Battling Bishops and head coach Steve Runge hope for an improvement in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings in 2022-23.

Senior Luke Boerner (Delaware/Olentangy) leads the Bishop returnees.  Boerner led the team with an average of 76.11 strokes per round last year and posted a top-20 finish at the NCAC championship.

Senior John Catanzarite (Worthington/Kilbourne) was second on the team with an average of 78.90 strokes per round last season and tied for 25th place at the NCAC tournament.

Junior Jamison Ellis (North Canton/Hoover) was third on the team with an average of 80.54 shots per round.

Junior Payne Johnson (Barnesville) moved into the lineup and finished fourth on the team with an average of 82.89 shots per round.

Sophomore Isaac Henry (Worthington/Kilbourne) won the No. 5 spot in the lineup and averaged 83.88 while competing every round last season.

Junior Angus Ricks (Arlington, Va./St. Albans (D.C.)) played in one tournament during the 2021-22 season.

Ohio Wesleyan begins its fall schedule at the Transylvania Fall Invitational on Sept. 3-4, then competes in the Trine (Ind.) Ken Venturi Invitational.  The Bishops compete in the Allegheny Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Invitational on Sept. 25-26, and close out the season at the NCAA Region V Preview on Oct. 3-4.
