The Team of Distinction was created to recognize individual teams that have distinguished themselves and made extraordinary contributions to OWU athletics.

The 2011 men's soccer team opened its season with a 2-1 loss to Messiah, then reeled off 18 straight wins, including 9 in North Coast Athletic Conference competition to win the NCAC championship.

The Bishops received a first-round bye in the NCAA Division III tournament play and defeated Washington (Mo.) before rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the final 20 minutes for a 3-2 win over Ohio Northern behind a goal and an assist from forward Travis Wall '12.  After a 2-1 win over Hope sent the team to the national semifinals, Ohio Wesleyan defeated Montclair State, 4-0, before taking the national championship with a 2-1 win over Calvin.  The win in the national championship game was the 608th for head coach Jay Martin, making him the all-time victories leader in NCAA men's soccer.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 23-2 record, tying the school season record for wins.  Wall was named NCAA Division III Player of the Year and was joined on the All-America teams by midfielder Dylan Stone '12.  The Bishops placed 5 players on the all-region teams, 6 on the All-Ohio teams, and 9 on the All-NCAC teams.

The 1967 football team opened its season with a 14-14 tie at Albion, then posted 8 straight wins, including a 35-14 verdict at Augustana, led by future National Football League quarterback Ken Anderson.  The Bishops scored 10 fourth-quarter points on the way to a key 24-23 win over Wittenberg, then got a 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dick Cromwell '69 to wide receiver Bill Long '69 on the final play of the game to complete an improbable comeback and a 23-21 win over Mount Union.  Ohio Wesleyan clinched the conference title by building a 24-0 halftime lead at Denison in what ended up a 24-12 win.

The Bishops and head coach Jack Fouts '48 finished the season with an 8-0-1 record, going undefeated for the first time since 1953 and tying the school season record for victories.  The team was considered for a postseason bowl bid to the Grantland Rice Bowl (the NCAA College Division Mideast Regional championship game).  Twelve players represented Ohio Wesleyan on the All-OAC teams, with halfback Bob Badami '69, center Pat Flanagan '68, guard Ed Kurent '68, and defensive tackle Don Ryals '68 receiving first-team accolades.
