Blaumeiser Wins OWU Invitational

2nd of 7 at OWU Invitational

Freshman Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont) won the individual title to lead the Bishops at the OWU Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio.

Ohio Wesleyan had the top 2 and 3 of the top 5 individual finishers, but Ohio Northern placed 6 runners in the top 10 to defeat the Bishops for the team title by a margin of 31-40.  Otterbein was third with 99 points, followed by Bluffton (120), Mount Vernon Nazarene (137), Lorain County Community College (165), Dayton Running Club, and Kenyon (201).

Blaumeiser won the 8000-meter race in 26:05.2, completing the course 8 seconds ahead of sophomore Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington).

Senior Ethan Bradt (Berea/Berea-Midpark) finished fifth in 24:49.2, sophomore Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales) placed 15th in 27:43.2, and sophomore Blake Johnson (Centerburg) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 24th-place finish in 28:04.6.

Sophomore Ethan McNichols (Gahanna/New Albany) placed 35th in 28:40.1 and junior Evan Miller (Wooster) was 57th in 29:28.1.
