Freshman Gabe Bulugaris (Lewis Center/Olentangy), sophomore Tyler Bodovetz (Streetsboro), and freshman Joe Shoup (Ashland/Mapleton) recorded pins to lead Ohio Wesleyan to a dual-meet win over Penn State-Behrend on Thursday at Branch Rickey Arena.
The Lions took an early lead in the meet when Mitch Headley pinned sophomore Chase Wolfingbarger (Hilliard/Dublin Coffman) at 125, but the Bishops evened the score when freshman Jimmy Baumann (Dublin/Coffman) received a forfeit at 133.
Bulugaris put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay by pinning Zach Dellinger with :11 left in the match at 141, freshman Luke Milanovich (Powell/Dublin Jerome) followed with an 18-3 technical fall over Hunter Savitz at 149, and sophomore Tim Alexander (Noblesville, Ind.) recorded a 16-4 major decision over Zachary Edwards at 157 to extend the margin to 21-6.
At 165, Bodovetz pinned Matt Posego at the horn ending the first period, and freshman Othman Taha (Dublin/Jerome)) followed with a 19-3 technical fall over Brian Himes at 174.
Sophomore Desmon Perry (Garnet Valley, Pa.) recorded a 10-2 major decision over Dan Labus at 184 and sophomore Geoffrey Kaminski (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won on a medical forfeit at 197 when Dylan Barber retired after the second period.
Shoup closed out the scoring by pinning Kyle Trim in 1:17 at 285.
In an exhibition matchup, junior Sandro Bruni (Brookline, Mass.) pinned Eric Liu at 197.
