1st of 8 at Muskingum Invitational
Junior Liberty Brock (Zanesville/New Concord John Glenn), sophomore Ashley Beatty (Delaware/Buckeye Valley), and senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy) won events for Ohio Wesleyan to lead the Bishops to the team title at the Muskingum Invitational, hosted by Muskingum University on Saturday in New Concord.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 118 points to 116 for Waynesburg. Muskingum finished third with 91 points, followed by Marietta (85), Heidelberg (68), St. Vincent (35), Chatham (25), and Thiel (8).
Brock won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.34. Brock also helped a pair of relay teams to wins, teaming with sophomore Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), freshman Coral Pierson (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), and junior Addystin Lykins (Carey) to win the 800-meter relay in 1:49.37 and combining with Beatty, freshman Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), and Lykins to win the 1600-meter relay in 4:33.29.
Beatty won the 1000-meter run in 3:18.79.
Dubenion won the weight throw with a mark of 50-9½.
Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who finished second in the high jump; junior Lizzi Nagy (North Royalton), who finished second in the weight throw; Pierson, who finished third in the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles; freshman McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), who placed third in the 3000-meter run; freshman Celeste Swihart (Fredericktown), who was third in the pole vault; James, who placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump; junior Cameron Rogers (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), who placed fourth in the pole vault; senior Veronica Hardman (Blenheim, New Zealand/Ravenswood), who finished fourth in the long jump; freshman Emma Hall (Ironton), who placed sixth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw; Lykins, who was sixth in the 400-meter dash; senior Lauren Montgomery (Newark/Licking Valley), who placed seventh in the mile run; junior Sammy Maglott (Fredericktown), who was seventh in the 3000-meter run; senior Gabby Stefanka (Marion/Elgin), who finished seventh in the weight throw; freshman Bailey Weise (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), who placed eighth in the 3000-meter run; and sophomore Lia Sadd (Avon), who was eighth in the shot put.
