Ohio Wesleyan 79, Wooster 42

Sophomore wing Kelsey Wolfe (Apple Creek/Waynedale) buried back-to-back 3-pointers during an 8-0 run that gave Ohio Wesleyan a double-digit lead, and a 16-0 Bishop run later in the second period broke open a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wooster on Wednesday in Wooster.

The Bishops took a 15-12 lead after the first period and Wolfe opened the second-quarter scoring with a 3-pointer, then followed with another 3-pointer after a Wooster turnover.  Junior guard Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) followed with a fast-break jumper for a 23-12 Bishop lead.

Wooster narrowed the deficit to 25-18 after a pair of free throws from Ella Biondi and a jumper by Erica Beaty, but Denison converted a 3-point play to kick off the 16-0 eruption, which included hoops from sophomore post Alyssa Griner (Delaware/Hayes) and junior guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) before 3-pointers by sophomore post Chelsea Edington (Delaware/Buckeye Valley), freshman guard Mia Guscoff (Canton/Massillon Perry), and sophomore guard Lauren Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) stretched the lead to 41-18 in the final minute of the half, and the margin would remain in double digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

Sophomore post Karlee Ross (Beverly/Fort Frye) led the Bishops with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Denison finished with 15 points and a team-high 3 assists, and Schipfer scored 14 points.
