1st of 4 at Collegiate Invitational Sprint Meet

Senior Evelyn VanderVelde (Holland, Mich.) won 2 events for Ohio Wesleyan at the Collegiate Invitational Sprint Meet on Saturday in Stuart, Fla.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 393 points to 126 for Saint Rose.  Pitt-Bradford placed third with 95 points and Wells was fourth with 91 points.

VanderVelde won the 200 IM in 2:23.37 and the 50 breaststroke in :33.32, and combined with sophomore Lily Davis (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne), sophomore Josephine Stark (Sandusky/Margaretta), and sophomore Brooke Parker (Etna/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) to win the 200 medley relay in 2:02.22.

Parker also won an event for Ohio Wesleyan, taking the 50 butterfly in :29.32 and adding a third in the 50 freestyle.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Davis, who was second in the 50 freestyle and the 50 backstroke; junior Siarra Hoover (Frazeysburg/Newark Licking Valley), who finished second in the 50 breaststroke and third in the 200 IM; Stark, who placed second in the 200 IM; and senior Alyssa O'Sullivan (Hilliard/Bishop Watterson), who finished third in the 50 backstroke.
